He reminds her so much of a phantom that the thought of not passing directly through him as never truly occurred to her. She is so amazed, she touches him again -unconsciously, she claims- just to make sure she isn’t imagining the feel. She runs her hands over him until she wonders where her senses have gone and why he hasn’t stopped her. Surely this, his expression, is a dream.
But no, he is very much solid, a being sprung from the earth itself.
