The Restaurant
It had taken a considerable amount of effort to persuade General Landry that allowing Ronon and Teyla to leave Stargate Command would not necessarily lead to an intergalactic disaster, including a gentle reminder that not every alien was Vala Mal Doran. Cameron decided that it had been worth it, as all eight members of the flagship teams sat in a restaurant, conversing as if they had been friends all of their lives. He laughed as Sheppard recited the story of McKay and his Ancient shield, smirked at Sam's gentle teasing of Daniel and pouted when it was his turn to be made fun of.
But every few minutes he found his attention drawn to his neighbour, as the sound of her distinct voice and delighted laughter rose above the dim of the crowded restaurant. He watched her, fascinated by the expressions she wore when talking to or about her team mates. The subtleties in her demeanor intrigued him, such as the genuine affection that lay behind the false exasperation when referring to Dr. McKay, and the obvious respect that tainted the rolling of her eyes in response to a crude comment by Colonel Sheppard. It took all of his energy to prevent the smile that threatened to ambush his face when her hand brushed his as she left the table.
The material of her dress blew against his arm as she took her seat at the table once more. He glanced at her and was rewarded with a smile full of genuine warmth. He realised that he was staring only when an small object hit the corner of his eye. He picked up the offending carrot and hurled it back to it's owner along with an annoyed glare, and was rewarded with a trademark smirk. Sighing, his attention returned to the woman sat by his side.
“So, tell me about Athos."
