He'd smiled and she had laughed. She had finished the ballistics report and the DNA scans. They were waiting from the night before and she had only started that morning. Boxes littered the floor and the desk. A stereo played near the door.
She'd looked at him over her computer as he had entered. He was barking orders and she rolled her eyes.
He topped short at the sight of her. He wasn't expecting her and she hadn't expected to be yelled at.
She thrust the blue folder at him before stomping back to her computer. "Once I get the computer up and running I'll have your other reports. You'll get it in a few hours."
She'd surprised him in many ways and he'd known her ten seconds.
He flipped through the report and sighed. His gut had been right and no one would be going home tonight.
"I need some coffee."
"Hey could you grab me a CaffPow! while you're there? I can't leave until this thing is set up."
She laughed at the look on his face. He found himself caught up in that laugh and a smile cross his face.
"Sure....?"
"Abby Sciuto," she said holding out her hand. His grip was firm and warm. "It's nice to meet you Special Agent Gibbs."
