Summary: Sometimes she just can't control herself.
For the last five minutes, Brittany House has been sobbing at her dining room table.
The sound of her crying echoes in the wide open spaces and vaulted ceilings of her empty home. There's no one there to hear her but the cat, which has perched itself on the kitchen counter, watching over her with a concerned look on his face. He can sense that she needs her space.
It all started when she saw the photo from their second wedding ceremony hanging over the fireplace. How happy they looked. She looked older and wiser but she was looking at him like he was her entire world. He is her entire world. No one can doubt that. It only got worse when she stepped closer, eyes on the smaller photos on the mantel of vacations and friends and all the times they looked like lovestruck idiots.
She moved through the house, tossed her backpack and her jacket on the couch where they cuddled and watched TV and made out during commercials. Walked into the bedroom, changing shirts and randomly sprawling out on the bed. Able to smell him, his aftershave and the scent of him, on his pillow. God, that always made her feel better.
A walk through the kitchen yielded a message on the machine. His voice, telling her that he loved her. That was what did it. She made it to the table and just let the tears come.
She's been crying for the past five minutes.
Then she finally wipes her eyes, looks up, looks around at their house, their home, and smiles.
She's crying because he loves her. Greg loves her, he married her, and that makes her the luckiest woman alive.
