The morning after had always been a source of awkward questions for Veronica. Wondering what they were supposed to do now, how this was supposed to changes things and by the way, how serious did this mean they were?
Veronica dreaded that first morning after.
Which was why it was such a surprise to find Logan staring down at her, a small grin on his face. Her eyes widened at the thought that they’d never actually spent the night with each other. He’d never seen her with bed hair and morning breath.
That realization had her clamping her mouth shut almost immediately.
“Something wrong?” he asked. There was a trace of amusement in his voice as if he knew exactly what her problem was. She narrowed her eyes at him and his grin widened. She turned her head to the side, trying to frown at him from the side.
“You brushed your teeth,” she accused. Logan smirked.
“Yes, I did. It’s something I do every day and the dentist tells me that I’m a good little boy for doing so.
“I think there should be a rule against brushing your teeth before the girl. It’s unfair that you get minty fresh breath and I’ve got morning breath,” Veronica muttered.
Logan laughed. “I hate to sound so cliché but rules were made to be broken.” He leaned down. “But if it makes you feel better, there’s an extra toothbrush in the bathroom with your name on it.”
Immediately, Veronica was up, out of the bed, and heading for the bathroom. Silently, Logan began the countdown. Three…two…
“Logan! You bought me a toothbrush with my name on it?”
“Isn’t that what I just said?”
He heard what sounded like laughter and then the sounds of water running as she brushed her teeth. A few minutes later, she came out and dropped back on the bed, propping herself up on one elbow before leaning over for a kiss.
“So,” she said, pulling back. “Shower?”
