I know you’re scared that I’ll soon be over it, that’s part of it all. Part of the beauty of falling in love with you is the fear you won’t fall. It hasn’t felt like this before, it hasn’t felt home for you. And I know it’s easy to say, but it’s harder to feel this way. And I miss you more than I should than I thought I could. Can’t get my mind off of you. - Fear You Won’t Fall by Joshua Radin.

She unlocked the door and stepped into Wes’ apartment, he was in France for a week consulting on a demonic problem. She had been staying at her apartment for the last few nights, but had come to his place after work because she promised to fix a glitch in his computer.

She had to admit it was kinda strange being here when he wasn’t home, or it was strange how strange it wasn’t. She loved her apartment, but she spent more time at Wes’ place than her own, and was even falling a little in love with it. Leaving her bag and shoes by the door, she headed into his office. Out of habit, she pressed the ‘new messages’ button the answering machine. Wrinkling her nose, she wondered if she should have. It was one thing when he was here... although he could have important business-y calls that he needed to get.

The first one was from Jamie, a Council contact, saying that he found a book Wes was looking for, next was from Giles, asking about the same book. Next was the sultry voice of someone named Ellen, saying she was in town for the next two weeks if he wanted to come see her. Willow frowned, almost deleting the message, but she reminded herself that trusted Wes, they were all big with the trust. He wouldn’t have given her a key to his place if he was sleeping around... right?

She immediately hated the skank on the machine for making her doubt Wes’ feelings for her. Not that she knew exactly they were going, she knew that he cared for her, wanted her, loved her, and she did practically live there. But there were some things a girl just needed to hear. They should talk when he got back.

She noted the caller and moved on: “Hello Darling,” Wes’ voice rang through the answering machine, “call me when you get this, there’s a matter we need to discuss.” She grimaced; ‘we need to talk,’ was always of the bad, no matter how it was put. Biting her lip, she picked up the phone and dialed his number. As it rang, she thought about how she would miss him, how much it would hurt to have him gone. She loved him, “Hello?”

“Hey Wes,” she managed. Oh Goddess, she loved him, like more-than-friends love. Like don’t-leave-me-because-you’ll-break-my-heart love. It was different than Oz, or even Tara, but it was love all the same.

“Are you alright?”

“Me? I’m fine, finer than fine. Peachy with a side of keen.” she babbled. He chuckled on the other line. “So, what is it you wanted to say?”

There was a long pause on the other end of the line, “I know perhaps this isn’t the best time, or way to tell you, but if I don’t do it now, I might be able to. Willow, I want you to move in with me.”
