Chloe was pissed. It was the third time this week that Lex had cancelled a date over a Lexcorp meeting. And of course he couldn't just out and say that he was going to busy. No, he had them both her and Clark wait there at his mansion, telling them that it would just be a moment. The by the time he was ready, it was time to go home.
"He loves us Chlo," Clark said in between kisses trying to placate her. This just served to make her angrier. It was just like Clark to try to make things better. Didn't he know her well enough to know that some times she just needed to rant? And that when she did, it would be nice to have one of her boyfriends agreeing with her.
But tonight she was going to speak her mind. "Lex wouldn't it be easier if you didn't make us wait around if you knew you were going to be busy?"
Lex's response was cool and polished while still sounding jovial. "I wasn't aware of you demanding social schedule Ms. Sullivan."
Chloe’s jaw nearly dropped. Even Clark realized that Lex made a tactical error.
"Lex-" Clark started.
"Actually Alexander," Chloe interrupted, "I don't. However, I do have a life which I set aside to see the people I love. I guess I can see now where the failure of understanding occurs."
Clark chose to step back from the impending argument. Why did I to get involved with two such passionate people? The thought was written across his face as Chloe turned to face him.
"Does or local hero have anything to add or is he playing the role of false pacifist again?"
Clark turned to her. "What does that mean?"
"I mean, Clark that you spend so much time trying to make things better and telling us to communicate when we almost never know what's going on with you."
"Well if you two weren’t always coming to me-"
Lex shook his head. "Why did I get involved with high school students?"
Chloe looked at him with fury in her eyes. "That would be the question, wouldn't it?"
