He hated seeing her broken like this. He knew she couldn’t feel the pain, but there was something about the fact that they could abuse her in this way that made him angry. His hands moved over her, firmly twisting the bone back into place. The skin healed as though it had never been broken, and with that she prepared herself to disappear once again, to the world where he couldn’t protect her-not that he even could here.
“When will you be back?”
“Shouldn’t you know the answer to that?”
He never said he didn’t.
