Tonight, to celebrate our day off and the semester being over, Gilly, Steeners and I headed to the Gershwin Theatre to try our luck at the Wicked lottery. And I said that since I had been a couple times, and since neither Gilly nor Steeners had been, if I ever won a ticket i would let them take my place. So we went, and while Gilly and Steens were trying to figure out what to do if all three of us got called and we got 6 tickets, I, being ever the cynic, was just like, whatever, we can put our names in but it's not like we're going to get it.
So we waited as the names were called...
"April Ant....Anto...Antoneelias?"
"Oh wow, that's me!"
So I ran up there all excited and stood in line and talked to a nice boy who is a Freshman in Gallatin, and suddenly I remembered... Crap, I promised Gilly and Steeners I'd give them the tickets. So we're all standing in line talkling and people are saying they've never seen it, and they've entered the lottery nine times... and I'm like.... this is my first shot at the lottery, and I've seen it twice, and I'm giving my tickets to my girlfriends because they're from Cali and musical theatre deprived. And about four chins hit the floor.
But I got a nifty green button that says, "I'm a Wicked Ticket Lottery Winner!" which is the coolest thing ever.
So needless to say, I'm just a little bummed. But I figure that this is really good karma-building, and maybe the ticket Gods will look favorably on me in the future.
And besides, Jennifer Laura Thompson is off this week on holiday, and there's a rumour that Idina took the night off because she's sick. So maybe I'm not losing out on all that much. And it really is important that I spread the good word that is musical theater to the infidels.
And Gilly took my recorder to tape all my favorite songs. And if they get to meet Joey McIntyre, she's going to have him sign a program saying "You've got the right stuff." Which would make my life worth living.
Come on Karma, you owe me.
