Yo! Its been a long time I know but we've had some internet issues and are finally back online. Whoot!
Move went along nicely and I am setting in. Had a couple of interviews. No luck again. Crap.
But now for the meat of the matter. Otakon 2006.
I was looking forward to this con. I so needed a bit of fantasy, reality was sucking hard. Thursday we left and as per usual we got lost. Turn right? They are both right turns! Agh! We finally got to mi madre's and picked up the video camera and my iPod. I drove, got a bit lost and drove some more. Missed pre-reg on Thrusday by a half an hour. Screw up at hotel caused us to wait outside of our hotel room for nearly an hour. Turned in early.
Friday, got up early. Not quite early enough; pre-reg line was freakin' huge, went around the building. Added to the fact that it was really hot,did not help. Got in and walked around a bit, not much looked particularly interesting. Headed to the dealer's room and picked up my coveted Applegeeks poster and a cool sketch by Hawk. Wandered and got a Tachikoma plushie, a couple of keychains, some manga, and got some video. Headed to artist's alley and saw Mookie. He is so cool. Signed my book and everything. Ran into Katy so that was cool. Saw this neat movie but then they cleared us out for the music viedos and into a massive line that turned into a massive crowd of people. Videos were fairly decent. Went back to the room. Garrat called me 4 times during the day to tell me he was not there yet. Gargh. Crashed.
Saturday, I had a breakdown and called my mom. Really rather not get into details. Headed out and returned to the artist's alley. Got a massive amount of stuff as well as the Directions of Destiny book. So nifty. Redid the dealer's room and got manga, more video, and a general dislike of the massage of people. Not really much to say about that day. I had a funk around me and I was a bit wary of the fact that I couldn't tell who was rowdier, radid baseball fans or crazed otaku. Hung around until it was time to head to the maquerade, had to run to the hotel room to drop off my camera. Made it back and this time the event was held in a massive arena. Btter seating, not a better show. The skits were okay but none that really stuck out in my mind. Went back and chilled. Didn't really see much of my bro.
Sunday, we sorta skipped out on the con. Went to hang around the Inner Harbor instead. Was fun, went to the mall in Annapolis and then headed back to mi madre's. Picked up the Kira who is still getting used to everyone in the house again. Switched cars and headed back to C-ville. I'm thinking this will be the last Otakon for me. Its getting a little big for its britches and I feel the quality is going down. Sorry.
