So this is from the previous post. I was in Louisiana from Tuesday evening to this morning making myself available for being an extra on the Tekken movie. I play a "Hot 'Japanese' Club Yuppie" along with two other guys and three girls. The funny thing is, even though we're listed as Japanese, not a single one of us was Japanese. There were two Vietnamese, three Koreans, and me. I was one of the lucky ones who brought a selection of clothes for wardrobe and got to use what I had. I got to go through the whole rigamarole of hair and makeup and was pushed to the front of the lines because I was a featured extra (which I didn't know I was until I got there).
I got there at 10:00 approximately (I was really early for the 10:30 call), checked in, and like I said, got pushed to the front. I met lots of cool people while I was in the holding tank - the PA Brad, the extras casting coordinators (Jay, Kate, Brooke), the wardrobe head Billy Ray (and he said my outfit was "Just fabulous!"), and a bunch of extras - M'Kenna, Wayne, Ashley, Lanni, the BILLION other Matthews, Sharon, Kenna, and my other yuppie friends - Benson, Kaider, Hannah, and two others I don't remember the names of. So many people were drained by 3:00 that afternoon, having gone out the night before either partying for the sake of partying or for Mardi Gras...which was something I didn't get. Okay, maybe they didn't know what they were getting themselves into - but if you're going to be on a shoot the whole day, why would you only get yourself 2 hours of sleep? So I was quite annoyed with people who were continuously complaining about how tired they were.
Aside from that, it was an experience for me to be able to be on set and see how the whole thing comes together. I got to smoke a little from an herbal cigarette, drink 'sake' (water), and be paid $200 for acting like a drunk successful Japanese man.
And now, as I'm about to get on the clock, my entire good feeling of doing something I love has just been upended by everyone's pissy-ness at work. *sigh* Um...more to come later I'm sure.
