First day of school

I also have pics from a medieval fest we went to a few weeks ago, as well as pics from our trip to Trier yesterday. But I can't spam you that hard. LOL

Last Monday was the first day of school, Aug 25th. 4 of us moms from my cul-de-sac walked together. Of course, I was thinking this was going to be another dramatic day for Charlie. However, he surprised me by just be-bopping on into the school in line w/ the rest of his class.

David's school is a bit of a hike. It's about 3/4 of a mile to the bridge (sidewalk bridge over a main road) which goes to the other side of post. David's school is part of a campus that ranges from elementary to high school. We were a bit concerned about that, considering he's in 7th grade walking to school w/ so many older kids. And we had heard that there are some rough kids around here. We decided that we'd drop him off at the bridge and also pick him up there at the end of the day. I'd actually bring him all the way to school, but I can't make that happen and also get Charlie to school on time. So, anyway, Cory brought David the first morning and walked across the bridge and almost to the school bldg. David didn't want Cory to go any further than that. LOL

Charlie had a great first day. It was so funny. He said that his teacher said that 4th graders were big kids that didn't cause trouble and did well in school. That made him feel like a real big kid. David had a horrible first day. It broke my heart. He said he got lost, had to sit by himself at lunch and didn't make any friends. The hardest thing in the world was sending him back on the 2nd day. But both my kids ended up being the kids I thought they'd be b/c Charlie ended his week by getting in trouble for rough-housing in the cafeteria. And David made a couple of friends who are into "classic" rock. And he's taking French. LOL

Here are the pics: bw, you'll notice Cory's hot rod car in the background. That we've already had to drop over $500 into.
