Today was a lazy day. There was another cold snap, and going out in -11F weather didn't sound as fun as hunkering down at home. I did promise the Hubby a "fancy" breakfast, and I would say I delivered. We had skillet potatoes with lots of onion and garlic, then I (finally) used my cast iron skillet to make corn pancakes! We have leftover batter that we're planning on having tomorrow, so I will take pictures and post some commentary with that.
We got sucked into watching The Incredibles on TV, which is such a good movie! We own it on DVD, but I lent it to my grandma because she was bored.
The plan for dinner is pasta of some sort with the baguette that is currently proofing on the counter. It's the rest of the dough from
the cute loaf, just stretched into a long, thin loaf.
The book recommends using the same container again and reincorporating any little stuck dough bits into the new dough as a starter. This gives a deeper flavor to the next bread! The dough currently rising in the bucket is the light wheat recipe. However, I somehow got a little flighty and only halved the water, salt, and yeast, then proceeded to add the entire recipe's worth of flour. Oops. I noticed too late. My hopes are now high, since I now have four loaves worth of dough!
So.... does anyone want some crusty light wheat bread? tee hee.
