Yes, I realize that I'm terribly late, but I'm also bored. Drabble meme. Ask me for anything, but if I don't know the characters, or can't find a bunny, I may ask for a second request.
“Should we...” Itachi said, tilting his head, for once seeming totally out of his depth, “...put it in a dish or something?”
Neji arched one eyebrow wryly. “He doesn’t seem to be having any problems, and I’m not sure he’d like it if we separate him from the Itachi chibis.”
“But you prefer being kept wet when you’re in your merman form,” Itachi said. He still sounded somewhat dumbfounded.
On the cabin floor between them was a mass of chibis--mostly Itachi chibis rushing in to comfort the helplessly flailing and flopping merchibis. Despite all the Itachis’ best efforts, the merchibis scowled and let out a constant plaintive chorus of puuii’s.
“None of them seem particularly troubled by not having water. None of them have died yet, or asked for water as far as I can tell.”
“Perhaps if we just put a little water in a tray, so the other chibis could reach them, but they would be able to stay wet.” A worry line was starting to crease Itachi’s brow as he watched them all. “They seem distressed.”
“They’re always distressed,” Neji pointed out. “I think that’s just they’re behavior. It’s not surprising, really. I’m hardly at my best when I’m a fish.”
Itachi frowned and reached down to pet one of the merchibis gently. The lucky one stopped thrashing and crying, and huffed itself into a grumpy little chibi pile. “...We could ask Al to make an aquarium for them.”
