Well, Misty just rolled over 100,000 miles yesterday. Huzzah! What a big achievement in the life of a car. I thought about bringing a camera with me to document the big event (like that commerical with the lady on the side of the road with her truck saying "I just wanted to remember where I was when my truck hit 200,000 miles") but I had the foresight to realize two things, as I stood there in my apartment's parking lot and realized I didn't have the camera:
1. The odometer was at 99,983 in the parking lot. I realized that, since I was driving to
midnightcoder's house, it would hit 100,000 as I was on the highway. (Sure enough, it hit 100,000 right at that point on 495 where the Lowell Connector merges on. That would have been a really crappy place to pull over.)
2. It was very cloudy and had been threatening to rain all day. (Sure enough, it started raining a few minutes before the big roll-over.)
Of course, calling it a roll-over is not entirely accurate, since my car has a digital odometer. Basically all it did was add an extra "1" where there previous was not one. Thus, it now looks really weird.

In other news, I found out this week that I am going on my first-ever business trip next week. I am flying out to Chicago to the I- office there for training. (Well, saying this office is in Chicago is like saying Wilmington is in Boston. It's in Oak Brook, IL,
which is maybe about 15 miles out of the city.) I am actually really excited to go, because it's something I've wanted training on for a long time.
When I got the basic agenda from my buddy Dan in the UK (who is flying over to do said training), I realized I'd have to fly out to Chicago on ... gulp ... September 11. I was worried at first, but my mom had a really good point: September 11 is going to be the safest day of the year to fly. I then come back late on September 13.... because the portion of the training I'm attending ends at 5:30 that night, and I want to be here in this time zone for me and
midnightcoder's 8 YEAR ANNIVERSARY on the 14th :)

Finally, I'd like to wish a huge "BON VOYAGE" to
hazelyze who is leaving for Ireland this Thursday. I'm excited for us to hang out at Starbucks tomorrow with our lappie-tops :)
