I was bathing my daughter when I heard Josiah. I yelled “Solve the problem without me, I’m naked and can’t help you.” Joey yelled back “I can’t solve snake problems yet”. My daughter and I came streaking out of the tub into the kitchen where the back door stood wide open. Joey was crouched on the floor pointing under the kitchen table to a small brown garden snake. The poor thing was frozen in terror under the arching legs of the flexi-chair my 8 year old son still sits in. I put my hand on it and picked the writhing snake up off the floor. Joey started screaming. I went back to the bathroom where my daughter was now hiding in the linen closet and sat on the floor. After a while they calmed down and poked, then pat then stroked the little snake. I told them we are here to protect and care for all of the Earth’s creatures and it is our job to help them when ever we can. After a little while I walked out the backdoor and put the snake in the leaves of our back yard. Joey laughed saying I didn’t think those were even indigenous to this area. I thought it was a viper at first. Why do you think it came in? Do you think it was hungry? I put the baby back in the tub.
