i am convinced our society is seriously bent. when did we decide that we had a right to exploit the pain and suffering of others? when did it become entertainment for the delectation of the masses?
recently i witnessed two instances similar despicable conduct in my community. a family friend suffered the tragic loss of her son in a plane accident. the press is HOUNDING her mercilessly. they even schedule appointments at her business in the guise of wanting her professional services, but really only want a sound bite/video clip for their paper/radio station/TV station. WTF?!
yesterday a volunteer road clean-up worker was accidentally struck by a vehicle by my house. some "enterprising" person with a camera phone took pictures of the driver of said vehicle, while he was on his knees sobbing in front of his truck, and our local community internet new pages published these pictures. this event was tragic for all involved, but what gives anybody the right to invade such a personal moment and broadcast it to the masses?
does anybody remember The Golden Rule?
