we used to get together for painting parties at DT? i've been channeling kelly and amy for the past couple of days. we had so much fun together painting all those afternoons and into the nights. it's funny how much longer painting takes when you're doing it by yourself and are interrupted frequently by the 7-week-old tyrant who prefers to be held when he naps during the day. i have to lull him to sleep and then quickly paint in the 30-45 minutes before he realizes that i put him down...feed and repeat. yesterday it took 6 hours to paint jarod's room and it took another 6 today to paint ian's room. i'm not quite sure the actual percentage of those times that i actually spent painting. all i know is that my brush is getting ruined because of paint drying on it (even when i cover it in plastic) while i tend to ian. oh well, could be worse...i could have a 3 year old "helper" while i'm trying to paint.
so, my goal for this last part of maternity leave is to get most, if not all, of the rooms in the house painted. if i don't do it this summer, then i'm afraid it won't get done for several more years. this week i'm tackling the 3 bedrooms and 2 upstairs baths. next week is vacation (yet another wedding, in NY this time), so the following week i'm going to try the upstairs hallway and work my way down to the main level.
i need some help with room colors for downstairs. we have an open floorplan with basically two big rooms: the kitchen/living room and the dining/family room. we have tons of oak: the trim, the dining room table, kitchen cabinets, the computer desk, etc. we have lots of windows that let in lots of light. we have a dark green couch and recliner in the living room. given all that info, does anyone have suggestions for colors for each of the two rooms? i'm thinking i'd like something in the warm color scheme, but am open to interesting suggestions. please help!!!
in other news, the youngest piv is doing great. he's probably about 9.5 lbs by now; we'll get the official stats on the 25th. his daddy has decided that he should be called "chunky monkey". he's working his way through a bout of anemia. we have to give him iron every day, but fortunately he doesn't look so pale anymore.
ian was wonderful to me last night. he slept 5 hours, woke for a 2:30 feeding, and then slept another 4 hours! this is the 3rd time he's done a 5 hour stretch. i really hope this becomes a pattern with him because the sleep is absolutely wonderful! my greatest hope and desire is that he will get on a schedule like that by the time i have to go back to work. jarod would occasionally do that for me, but for the most part he would require 2 feedings in the middle of the night rather than just the one. that kind of schedule is enough to drive you insane...he kept it up until he was weaned at 13 months.
