I'm having a blast with the ACEOs. Last night I sketched, transfered, and the inked a little cat ACEO. I'm going to paint it, so I bought a pack of sampler watercolor paper. So far the only paper I've tried is Arches, and to be honest I'm not that crazy about the surface. The hot press seems too smooth, and the cold press seems to toothy. The paper I'm using now is Strathmore Imperial 140lb hot press, and so far I'm liking it. I haven't actually started painting on it, but it took the pencil very smoothly and the ink went on without any scratching. The tooth has more substance than the Arches hot press, but not nearly as much as a cold press paper. I also wanted the 140lb weight, for the only other kind I've tried is 90lb and it buckled like crazy. And the best thing about it is one sheet will make a ton of ACEOs!

Oh, and yesterday I *finally* picked up a pack of Canson Classic Cream paper! Oh, how happy is my heart! No more harsh, icky substitutes. Classic Cream is the only paper I really like for colored pencil. It's smooth without being slick, and it has a bit of substance to it. I've been without if for longer than I care to admit, and I'm thrilled!

Look for some ACEO linework later today...
