Running is fundamental

So, I am still trying to get healthier. It has started with trying to eat healthier, and in the last few months I have went from 220 lbs, to 211lbs. But I really want to do more. Right now, I am looking for a job, and cannot really afford a gym. So, I am going to start running. I did it last weekend, and as usual, I overdid it and have been hurting for the last four days.

So, I bought a book call, Running: Getting started by someone named Jeff Galloway. He goes about getting into running in a much more controlled and safe manner. He uses something called the run-walk-run method. Basically, the first time you run he says you should:
-walk slowly for 3 minutes to warm up
-continue to walk for 2 more minutes at same speed or increase to normal pace
-alternated 5-10 seconds of running with 1-2 minutes of comfortable walking
-do this for 5-10 minutes-no more
-walk slowly for 5-10 minutes to cool down.

I like this approach, and he even gives you a running program to slowly get you used to the idea of running by increasing the amount you run and walk. Also by only running three days a week go give your body time to recover, before you do it again. I know I need this, cuz I still remember when I was an athelete and tend to over do things. Which is why I could barely walk sunday...after trying to run a mile, even though I haven't excercised in over 3 years.

So, since I know a lot of people talk about being healthier on here, and running is a good way to make friends and such. I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in something like this?  It would be cool to see other people talking about something like this on their blog, in an attempt to get healthier.  :)
