So this whole game making process is a very interesting and difficult thing to behold. It isn’t something we really planned on for years, and it sort of snuck up on us a while back. So a little over a year ago we (Chris, Henry and I) decided to take this to the next step. We decided to get serious about putting the time and work into making it happen.
Now here we are later in the process and things are going pretty well. Yes, there have been some bumps along the way, but nothing worth while is ever easy, right?
The interesting thing to me is how the process has changed.
At first everything was easy. It was nothing but idea and brainstorming. That was so much fun and damn easy considering all you did was talk about things you wanted in the game and specific details. We did that for quite some time and it really flowed.
Then it stopped.
We finally reached a point where one we got together we had nothing to really talk about. I say this because I am the one that usually tried to run the meetings and when everything I wanted to talk about was discussed we did not talk about much after that. Hell, there were even a couple of times when two of us got together and we did not even talk about the game. It was frustrating me in a very big way.
So last time we met (last Tuesday) we discussed some of these issues. The main thing we realized was how we had to get more organized. A need to have a more concrete system was something that we really dug into. Actually (and it was nice to see) my friend Henry is the one that took charge of this.
We basically decided to have a book for the game (everything we have done) and a book for development. It was a very simple way to get more organized and know where we are with each section of the book, and how much we have to get done before we move on to a new section.
It was also one of the few times all three of us have been able to meet due to scheduling and work conflicts. We always get so much done with this happens and hopefully we can continue the trend. Although I have to say that I understand why other people cannot make it when it comes to work related issues. As important as this is, I would never expect for someone to choose this over his livelihood. As I said, I just hope the trend continues.
So, overall I feel great about what we discussed is already being implemented as well.
It is time for Perdition to take the next step. :)
