So, I'm updating. Why? Jenny and I are joining together in a crusade to rid our friends pages of Audra's cartoonishly large photos.
It's been an interesting week around the water cooler. And by water cooler I mean Pizza Man. Tuesday night, I was filling dressings for the busters because we never freaking have any deliveries on Tuesdays. All of a sudden, all the power went out. A power line that feeds Pizza Man/Ice Cream Man had fallen, so we were without power and closed at 8. Too bad it was buffet night and we had 9302483988979 dishes to do, and we did them all by flashlight.
Wednesday night I was out on a delivery to Old Quarry Trail, which means nothing to any of you, except that it's way out in the country. The guy who I was delivering to told me that his power had just went out. Then, I was driving back into town, and since it was 7, it was still light out so I couldn't tell whether people had power. I got to the stoplights, and they were out. I got to Pizza Man, and it was black. So, we closed early again, I didn't get to take home any tips because the computers were down again, and we finished dishes and cleaning by flashlight again. I came home and we didn't have power. The newspaper reports that a transformer blew and the entire town was without power.
So I nearly crapped my pants tonight when we managed to stay open and have electricity all night. I did have to deliver to the creepiest place I have ever been. It was way out in the country, at 9:30, so it was pitch black, across from an old cemetary, and this guy had a loooong driveway and all along the driveway was like, old benches, an old greenhouse, crashed cars, old bikes, and all kinds of junk. Plus, as soon as I opened the car door six dogs attacked me. It freaked me the heck out.
So, someone (and by someone, my manager) leaked to Jeff (my boss since day one at Pizza Man) that this is my last summer. Hellooo Breakdown of '05. He asked me when I was planning on telling him and actually, I was hoping that he'd just kind of forget about me around May next year. Yeah, I know, unlikely. Jeff has been like a dad to me, so that will be the hardest part of leaving Pizza Man. If you guys would like to see a 42-year-old restaurant owner throw a hissy fit, please join me at my place of employment on August 7.
