I do not want to admit this, but... this break is rocking my socks off. It's been sunny and semi-warm, which means I have been outside and it has been glorious!! I have worked on a little homework, but no class has been wonderful. I slept for 12 hours Sunday night. It was amazing. I possibly have some horse poop to deal with when we get back, so I'm savoring my peaceful time. I have been utilizing my digital camera, but I forgot to bring the cord that connects it to the computer, so when we get back there will be some nice pictures.
Random fact of the day: only 20 people in the world have spontaneously combusted. A fourth grader told me this when he was supposed to be looking up stuff about the government.
A fourth grader was also singing The Star Spangled Banner when Mrs. Niemann was teaching about Illinois. Did you know ice-cream sundaes originated because ice-cream floats were illegal in IL on Sundays, so some smart alecks were like, "Fine! We'll use syrup instead!" True story. Anyway.
Mrs. Niemann has a handful of gifted kids in her class.. the rest have so many problems. She doesn't have any middle of the road kids. She has a 14 year old (4th grade=9 to 10 year olds), bipolar, manic depressive, ADHD, learning disabilities, vision impairments, emotional/behavior disorders, a kid who has to take care of himself and stays after school as long as possible because he doesn't want to go home, a kid who found his dad dead when he was 5, a kid who lost his dad just this year, a girl whose parents want Mrs. Niemann to fail her, and Bobby... the kid who was singing the national anthem. She says half of her class is medicated... that's completely insane.
Oh and I still want to be a teacher.......
