What a difference a year makes.
I've hardly looked at livejournal since my last post. And everything has changed. Except for Todd... 15 months last weekend. Love.
Columbia and I have parted ways amicably. Although we submitted a proposal for the expansion of my former position to full-time, we were denied and I started seeking employment elsewhere. They almost wrangled me in for another year of part-time. It was a hard place for me to leave. But they are very supportive of me there, and understand that I need to move on to bigger and better things.
Chicago Children's Theatre and I parted ways not-so-amicably. I was laid off in March. Economy shmeconomy. I guess, looking back, I can chalk it up to life experience. It's very different around there now I would imagine. Michael left for a job in Salt Lake City back in June, and Beth recently moved on as well, I hear.
Yes, Michael moved to Utah, which also means Captain Unlucky is no more. It was fun while it lasted, and at least we made a CD - so I have documented proof for the future that I was mildly cool in the past.
Like I said, Todd and I are still together and things are very good. We took a trip out to Seattle in March. We have a new favorite mode of transportation: railroad. Traveling together was amazing, and I am looking forward to our next adventure. And I just re-found my passport, so the world is once again our oyster. Speaking of oysters, I've never had better than those fresh off the boats at Pike's Market.
Kristen and I are still living together, although we recently downsized and upgraded. We moved about 8 blocks west to a brand new 2BR/2BA apartment with 2 balconies, parking, central heating/AC, dishwasher and a washer/dryer in unit. I might possibly be living beyond my means, but I am hoping that my means will be catching up soon.
Two weeks ago, I began working full time for Jam Theatricals here in Chicago. They produce Broadway shows in NYC and present national Broadway tours, and are a sister company of Jam Productions - the largest independent promotions company in the country. The week that I joined Jam Theatricals, they moved out of the offices they shared with Promotions and into their own office space in the North/Clybourn area of Lincoln Park. Along with the new office came the need for a new receptionist. Enter: me. Receptionist/Operations Support with room for growth.
In other news, Stef is in another new apartment - the last place turned out to be a lemon. Gina and Adam still live together, and recently bought at house. Justin and Brandon also just bought a house. Calling this place a "fixer-upper" is putting it mildly, but they are almost finished with renovations. Shay moved back into Manhattan, finally, and I am trying everything to get out to visit her sooner rather than later. Todd and his mom may go to NYC in October for his birthday, so I may hop up for the weekend to celebrate.
I have a new apartment and a new job. I'm growing up.
