Good Wednesday!
I didn't think I'd be able to share this exciting development with you for a long time, but as Hollywood Reporter broke the news last night, it's now okay for me to share that JULIET IMMORTAL and ROMEO REDEEMED have been optioned by ABC Family for development as a dramatic series!
You can read the Hollywood Reporter story here (And yes, it's kind of crazy to see my name in the Hollywood Reporter. Okay, very crazy.):
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/abc-family-romeo-juliet-recovery-road-juliet-immortal-400965 Now, as far as I know I won't be writing the adaptation or producing (the Hollywood Reporter needs to fact check a little better), but the books have been optioned for development and the process is moving forward. Of course, it's important to remember that many, many, many books are optioned and still never make it to the small (or big) screen, but this is still really thrilling news that I'm so happy to share with you.
Now I'll have something to say when I get email asking why the books haven't been made into movies. (I get a lot of those, and spend a lot of time explaining that most authors have no control over whether or not their books are made into films or casting or anything else Hollywood-related.)
But in light of this news, who would you all choose to play Romeo and Juliet/Ariel if you were casting the show? I'm curious (and also very out of touch with any television that isn't HBO). If you give me some suggestions, I'll add the actors/actresses to the ROMEO REDEEMED Pintrest board:
http://pinterest.com/staceyjayya/romeo-redeemed-visuals/ All right, I'm back to drafting on my 2014 book. I'm up to page 140 and really enjoying these characters soooo much. Especially my hero. He is probably the yummiest fictional character I've ever written, YA or adult.
Speaking of yummy, my beast from OF BEAST AND BEAUTY is also one of my favorite male characters (from my own work). I can't wait for you all to read his story, and I actually have a few ARCs in my possession and would love to start sending them out after the holidays, but I have a problem: the cover image hasn't been publicly released yet. So, do you think you all could promise not to Tweet/Facebook/share the cover if you were to come into possession of a copy a little earlier than other people? I mean I think I can trust you....right?
So now I just need to think up a contest to decide who gets the early ARCs.... Ponders... Wanders away from blog... Gets back to work...
Hope you have a wonderful rest of your week!
Stacey
