In 2012, I'm going to open every blog post with--

*maniacal laughter*

Okay, maybe not. There may come a time when maniacal laughter will be an inappropriate way to open a blog post, but still...after the butt whooping I gave the goals (and even the half formed promises) of 2011, I'm feeling gutsy about 2012.

But first...a look back...

Re: Goal Nine: Spread some loving kindness.

This holiday, I took a seasonal position (for minimum wage) at Barnes & Noble (thanks to a lay-off over a year ago). I use to own my own bookstore (back in the 90s). I made the best of it.

Part of what made it fun for me was recommending books to customers (something B&N employees do far to little of in my humble opinion).

Just wanted to let you know that your novel JULIET IMMORTAL was the one I recommended the most. This was easy, as it was my favorite novel of the year.

Each cashiering shift I had I would nab a copy off the shelf and take it up front with me and place it on display at my checkout. Whenever I had a sullen teenager in line, I would chat with them about your novel. When people would be checking out with similar titles, I would recommend your novel. Nabbed some sales that way!

Our Receiving Clerk would get a kick out it when I would come in the next day. "Anymore Juliets? I need 'em to sell 'em!" He'd always pull out one or two for me. Eventually, we had a modest stack of them spread around in Teen New Releases, Staff Recommendations, etc.

I know, for a fact, that I sold at least nine copies that way. I lost a few sales to folks who said, "I'll get it as an e-book", and I know I recommended it to at least three dozen other customers as a "please keep this in mind for your next visit".

Plus, I know I heard another employee or two repeating the buzz. :-D

So, Goal Nine: Spread some loving kindness.

Check that off my list as well.

Happy New Year!

Wow.

I am completely overcome. This is so, so amazing. (I had The Tears reading this!) Thank you. I appreciate your effort on behalf of this book so much I can't even express it. This means so much to me and so much to my family (who are depending on me to bring home the bacon since my husband went back to school). I am honored and flattered and just plain grateful. Thank you thank you, a million times thank you. (And would you please drop me an email with your address at stacey.jay.ya at gmail dot com? That way I can get you on the list for an ARC of ROMEO REDEEMED. The ARCs of Juliet were scarce and I want to make sure one gets in your hands as my small way of saying thank you.)
