Thankful Friday

Oct 15, 2010 13:23

I know it's supposed to be Thankful Thursday, but I am a rebel and I don't need a cause to do things on Friday that I'm supposed to do on Thursday.

And I'm not sure whoever made thankfulness a Thursday thing is my boss. In fact, I'm pretty sure they're not my boss<--possible sign of oppositional defiant disorder, that I may have passed down to my nearly two year old son. Or he could just be nearly two. The jury is still out on that little pistol.

Anyway. Thankful. I am. Very. And for people this week! Ah, lovely people and their ability to be so surprisingly wonderful. And good. And amazing.

And so thank you, people, in no particular order:

1. To my son's amazing new doctor. You are full of fancy and smart and fun and I love you.

You made my son--who is more freaked by doctors and needles than he was before his eye surgery this summer--so comfortable. You made him laugh, you treated him (and me) with respect. You listened. You cared. I could see how much you cared, feel it in the time you spent checking to make sure this new patient of yours was all ship shape. And it was Friday. And you had worked a full week and you've been doing this for twenty years and OH MY GOD you should have been mean and tired and hate children like most of the other pediatricians we've seen. But you weren't and you didn't and I think we're finally on track to getting 6 to eat more than five things and I love you. For real. I wanted to give you a hug, but I restrained myself<--sign that I am overcoming boundary issues, mostly the having no boundaries part. I did not hug inappropriately. I am made of win.

2. To Saundra Mitchell. Who is also fancy and smart and fierce and spot on and I love her.

This lady is awesome. If you haven't checked out her books, go immediately to her website and learn where you can be finding them: http://www.saundramitchell.com/index.html.

3. To Stacia Kane. Who is also very smart<--all these smart people will eventually give me a complex, if I'm ever smart enough to figure out how much less smart than them I am-->and a good friend and writes reaaaalllly good grown up books that you grown up people should go check out at http://staciakane.com/

4. To all the people I work with for being excellent and committed and hard-working and understanding where I'm coming from. How awesome are all of you? Very awesome. I am so grateful. I would name you all individually, but then you might be drawn here by google and realize that I'm not working and am instead blogging and I would not want to be caught not working so I'll just say a general "you rawk."

5. To my husband. Who has planned us a MUCH NEEDED get away for tomorrow afternoon (after I finish my morning words<--see I am still working! work work work!). We're going away from our house and adorable children for four whole hours! Squee!!!

I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend and encounter some nice people, or maybe show someone else your own niceness in a way they won't soon forget.

Stacey Jay

thanks, my various self diagnosed disorders, get happy
