Hmmm...

I bought The Complete Idiot's Guide to Careers in the US Military the other week. It had an excellent listing of websites for more information on all sorts of things in the military, ranging from a lot of different career fields to battalion homepages, etc. So I was puttering around online and I found that if I want to deal with linguistics directly, I have to enlist. They don't have a linguistics MOS (Military Occupational Specialty for you acronym-challenged) in the Marines (and I'd presume any of the branches) for officers. So I guess ROTC is out. I'm going to talk to the recruiter down in Roanoke when I get back to school. It'd be too much hassle dealing with one up here when I spend most of the year down in Roanoke.

By the way, informal survey... Who all gets the joke in my icon? I picked it up in stargate_icons but I'm wondering if it's nearly as amusing to people who aren't steeped in the fandom. Which is why I've been sticking to the other two. "Snood" and "wild equines" don't really require you being in on the joke. And speaking of Snood... Alexis, it's your fault I'm thinking of registering my copy! Gah, I'm actually considering paying money for my fix! Stupid limit on the number of mediums you can play... *grumble grumble grumble*

In other news, even Stef admits I'm making a teeny bit of progress in my summer project: rolling my r's. She can now detect a faint vibration in the funny noises I make. Not long or loud enough to count as really rolling my r's but it's an improvement. ^_^

Hmm... Here's a quiz I took a long time ago and never posted. Found the html pasted in some random file.

Woman of Strength

What's your spirit of womanhood?
brought to you by Quizilla

And Dave's Quote of the Day: It's like we have bad breath and BO. No one wants to have anything to do with us!

Okay, so maybe it's funnier when you know the "we" is referring to the company and the quote is a lamentation on why it's so hard working with the medical industry.
