[ if one happens to be passing down Williams Road, they'll probably see a woman in a black scrubbing tirelessly at the eggs on the wall of her house, and judging by the progress made, has been for some time. Although her face appears as impassive as ever, she is less than pleased about this sudden development. The state of the house was hardly ( Read more... )

[If there were a bucket and extra rags, Yuuto, on his lunch break, would certainly stop and help. As it is, he has to pause and ask nicely.]

Would you like some help?

[ It's him again.

Chane wasn't particularly excited about the prospect of talking to this lecher once more. She shoots him a warning glare over her shoulder, then continues working, though her body is tensed to move in case he tried something. ]

[Yuuto sighs. Home would be nice. Even the priestess from Ise would be nicer.]

I do apologize. I just don't think you should be doing all this work yourself.

[Another sigh. Is this what the Kamuis felt when dealing with each other? He takes off his jacket and rolls up his sleeves and holds out his hand for the rag she was using.]

[ and she backs up a few steps when he nears, looking at him icily - and incredulously. Why is he still here?

Chane doesn't give him the cloth - instead, she lowers her hands to her sides, the fingers of her free hand hovering over the hidden holster of her knife. ]

[He watches, still smiling, but it's not like he can't sense her general intent]

If you don't want my help, that's fine. But I'm not going to ignore the fact that you're trying to clean an entire house by yourself.

[ Chane hears what he says, but doesn't react at all. She continues to give him a level stare, not moving at all other than to narrow her eyes.

I do not need anyone's help. ]

It's not fair to expect you to do it all yourself.

[ Why wouldn't it be? She had always worked on her own. Perhaps with her father behind her, but there was little she didn't do by herself. Was he trying to use that as an excuse? ]

I'm not saying you can't... just that you shouldn't have to.

[ Chane didn't quite understand what he was getting at. She didn't make any moves towards him, but she did pull the knife out slightly from its hiding place on her dress, not-so-subtly suggesting waning patience. ]

[ To her surprise, he sounds like means it, and that's something Chane has difficulties computing. She continues to grip the dagger she so confides her trust in tightly, but her stoic face falters into one of mixed surprise and confusion.

... Why...? Why would he want to help? ]

[ Why are you helping me? That's a question she'd really like to pose, but having a knife in one hand and a cloth in the other, she's not quite at liberty to take out a pen and paper. I don't know what he's thinking...

After a hesitant pause, she slides the half-drawn knife back into its holster slowly, not removing her eyes from him and still moving warily. Then, after another moment of thought, she holds out the cloth she was using cautiously.

But... if he truly wishes to help, then I should accept that... shouldn't I? ]
