I should be writing in this fairly regularly again once Upward Bound starts up on the 25th. I'll be able to regale you with stories about high schoolers you don't know via my campus internet connection. I'll be living in Igoe with 60 kids.
It's tough to sum up the events of the summer so far. The most significant thing is that my sister had a baby. Her name is Elizabeth. The night before, a very excited Andy Silva stopped by at two in the morning to tell us he had friends arriving from Cleveland, and that we'd be joining him for a boat ride on Chautauqua Lake. Without sleeping, we went with him at four am. At six, enjoying a beautiful morning on a nice little boat, I got the phone call telling me that my sister was in the hospital. I ended up in Rochester around three, just before my sister gave birth. Not sleeping made the whole situation incredibly surreal. It's crazy seeing Lisa so grown up.
But, I'm an uncle. Neat, huh?
