As usual, loved this. LOVE Ann, like always. I think it's really difficult to write an original character in fanfic (and on TV shows, too) that actually feels like a real person, like someone you actually care about as much as you do the main characters, rather than just being a one-dimensional plot device but you have totally done it with Ann. I'm just sitting here nodding along with her and being so sympathetic to her plight. Luckily, I know she ends up with Ted eventually, so I know things will get better for her. And I love how they're not even dating and yet you've made it quite plausible that Ted already likes her (okay, it's Ted, he's probably already in love with her) and the moments where Ann mentions that she's not even thinking about Barney anymore, and the telepathic conversations!
And I love Ann noticing the awkwardness between Barney and Robin - Ann's inner monologue about everyone staring at each other or the floor or wherever was hilarious - and, although I thought, aww, poor Barney, I laughed at Ann practically rolling her eyes at Barney getting all misty eyed and staring at babies and families while she's like, uh, 30-year-old woman with a ticking biological clock right here.
I'm looking forward to the next chapter, as usual!
