I'm in the process of putting together a new evening of songs, and this was suggested to me.  I was moved by both the lyrics, the song itself and the performance.  Amazing.

So in honor of our boys and girls overseas, let's raise a midnight glass of rye.  Here's to them.

"Sing a song of sad young men, glasses full of rye.
All the news is bad again, kiss your dreams goodbye..."
(find the rest of the lyrics here.)

"Misbegotten moon shine for sad young men.
Let your gentle light guide them home again..."  - performed here by Shirley Bassey

thoughts, war, music
