It is good to start writing again. This is my first post since last August and I thought I'd do an update. It has taken this long because I have this nasty, vicious circle of a habit. You see, if I fall behind in something it becomes very unlikely that it will ever get done. I start to think of how much catch up I will have to do and after 5 mins straight of dwelling on it, it will have become too much and I quickly rationalize a reason to put it off. This, of course, perpetuates the problem. I am not sure exactly why I have started now but I am not going to dwell on it for fear that this will not get posted. :)
Work: Ahhhh.... work. Anybody who knows about where I work doesn’t really need an update. For the rest of you, I work at a Telecommunications company in SLO. I am a supervisor there and so am privy to a whole host of different information on the state of my company. I get to see how things work and how things don’t work. By and large, working for this company has been a rewarding experience. Other than the military, I have had no management experience and anybody who knows anything about the military knows that being a manager for the military is very different from the civilian world. Anyway, I have learned a lot and in addition to having a relatively stable job, I have over a year of management experience. I have also been able to see the inner workings of a small business and seen what works and what doesn’t. Now if only I could get that raise....
Social life: I really couldn’t have dreamed up anything better. It is really special being able to sit back at gatherings and after 2 years still say to myself: "I need somebody to pinch me to make sure I'm actually experiencing this." It is great to be in a group who will, as a whole and as individuals, show you unconditional support and love.
Love: Other than the love I get in abundant quantities from my friends, everything is great with Adriane. The whole moving in together thing is going 200% better than I expected. We are still very much in love after almost 6 years of seeing each other. This is another area where I can’t believe how lucky I am.
Hobbies: As of right now, I am in three great gaming groups and am running one of them. I am have finally gotten to the point in my gaming experience where I am going more for the community than for any need to game. Sure the gaming is fun but its not about that anymore. For a while, gaming was sort of an addiction but that time has past. It has taken 14 years but I am finally there. In addition to attending more parties and social gatherings than is really healthy, I find time to read (probably 1-2 books a month) and put in my fair share of video gaming. Right now I am playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and loving every minute of it. The storyline is so engrossing that I don’t really notice that its based off the D20 system. :)
So, there you have it. To most of you, the above is nothing new but to those of you who don’t live in SLO, here you go. Hopefully I will be better about posting more frequently but don’t hold your breath. :)
