Random Question/Survey

I was talking to DragonAttack at work about random stuff and I thought of an interesting question to ask you all: What is the most significant literary character whose entire concept revolved around an item? Examples of such a character might be Arthur and Excalibur.

In the spirit of discussion, I will go first. I put forth that Michael Moorcock's Elric and his sword Stormbringer is the most significant literary example of this type of character. I would argue that you couldn’t say what it is to be Elric without mentioning Stormbringer. As his longest and closest campanion, Stormbringer is an intergral part of Elric’s psyche.

Well there you go. I am interested in hearing all of your opinions/arguments
