Then he felt the wetness between his thighs. With a shaking hand he turned on the light and flipped back the covers.
Blood.
He knew that medically it was a lot less than it looked but he couldn't hellp freaking out a little bit. a person isn't supposed to bleed that much, especially when they're pregnant.
"Pavel, wake up!" He said, slapping Pavel's bare arm a bit harder than he meant to.
"Ow! What is it?" Pavel cracked an eye open to see Leonard staring in horror at his own lap. He glanced down and froze.
"Get medical!" McCoy hissed as another round of pain kicked him in the gut.
Pavel was off the bed and down the hall quicker than you could say borscht. for a moment, Leonard blessed the fact that for once someone had made the smart decision and put all the madicall staff in the quaters closest to sickbay. He could hear Pavel frantically pounding on doors and babling out an explanation that probably didn't make much sense except for "Leonard" and "Bleeding".
Within minutes he had been bundled up and carried off to medbay. Of course, because fo Pavel's frantic wake up call nearly every nurse and doctor on the ship was currently in the room, worried for him.
He lay in the bed and as they applied general aneasthetic, He realized what was happening.
A miscarriage.
It would have happened on it's own, but he didn't actually have an opening that the body could push the fetus out of. Hence the surgery.
He turned his head and cried, hand clutching Pavel's for dear life. Pavel's other hand brushed through Leonards hair as he murmured soothing things in his ear.
the entire thing to maybe an hour and a half, but to Leonard it was an eternity. When he was sealed up, he was cautioned to spend a couple days in bed, just as a precaution. He barely acknowledged the words, his whole world having narrowed to the empty feeling in his stomach.
His hand rested gently just above where he had finally been starting to show. It even felt emppty, the previously taut skin now soft and loose.
Leonard let Pavel lead him back to bed. He lay with his head on Pavel's chest and counted the heartbeats his baby would never have.

At first I thought of choosing Chekov as the one who had the miscarriage, but then I just put that word only, thinking it'll be funny if the writer choose McCoy instead. And you did!
