Is it me, or is it hot in here?

A weather related question for you all! I don't know how many of you are Americans, or if anyone's actually from any of the Earth-related locations mentioned in Starfleet, but if you have any knowledge of their weather and their REACTIONS to weather, that would be fantastic! Ultimately, what I'm wondering is something along the lines of 'they're all at the academy, it's december - who finds it cold outside?'

I'm not too concerned about how Chekov or Spock would find the weather - their reactions are addressed pretty well in fandom, considering the climate of Russia, and the desert-like climate of Vulcan. I'm more interested what Kirk, McCoy, and Sulu would think - possibly Uhura as well (and Scotty if you've got it!)

I'm from Saskatchewan, Canada, so if I were to see snow during ANY month of the year, it wouldn't surprise me. I hate to feed the CANADA/SNOW OTP stereotype, as it's not as common with other parts of the country, but for us it certainly fits. As this is the case, my views of 'oh, it's cold outside' differ and I find it difficult to write how other character react appropriately to non-extreme weather conditions. It's easy enough to stick Kirk on Delta Vega and go 'EFF IT IS COLD OUT MY TOES', but I'm working on an academy-era Christmas fic in SanFran. :3 Doesn't quite apply.

For example, and I don't know how accurate the MSN weather is, but for San Francisco in December, temperatures average from 35-40 F, from what I can tell. In Celsius, that doesn't even drop below the freezing point. I would consider this brisk, but not cold enough to pull out the winter jacket, you know? I'm unsure of, say, how McCoy would react to this temperature in comparison.

Any thoughts would be welcome!
