I am so very glad you liked it. I love post-series G/B fic, but sort of suck at writing it, but once a good friend of mine pointed me in the right direction, I felt okay. I also just wanted to play around with the construct that Garak necessarily has to have a hand in remaking Cardassia as a leading citizen or as a government official. I thought it might be a little ironic if Garak finally returned home to sort of be shunned by his own people.

When I first read your review, I did a little jig, as I adore your writing and know you have exacting standards, so that you liked this made me very happy!

Extremely well done. I also like that this wasn't a typical "Garak goes back to Cardassia and is a LegateEmperorGul" all in one. You made his fate very believable and I could see Bashir wanting to "rescue" him but having grown up enough and known Garak well enough to know that he was right where he wanted to be.

Thank you! Yes, I wanted to put a different spin on Garak's homecoming. While I don't believe that is what would happen (and I haven't read A Stitch in Time or any other post-Series books, so I actually don't even know what does happen), but I somehow fe3lt like this scenario might fit.

This story is as sweet at the wine Garak made, as passionate as the love they made and as sad as their parting.
Thank you, Ahavia

Thank you, Ahavia, for such a lovely review. I wasn't sure how to approach this until literally the last minute, and I am pleased at how it did turn out, and I did want there to be an underlying sweetness to a story that, at its core, wasn't going to have that happy an ending.

*tacklehugs* I literally could not have done this without you! I'm so glad you like it, and that you for all your help. If I could send you Garak covered in chocolate, I would - well, after taking a few licks first!
