Okay, so. I just had a fight with a very close friend of mine. I'm not happy with myself, but... I'll live.
A lot of people died in this fight over Metro City. A lot of people say it was our fault for fighting back. A lot of people say it was -my- fault. Maybe it is... but I don't think so.
We were fighting so that they could be free, free of worry, free of doubt, and free to do what they've always wanted to do. I always thought that was the coolest part of civilization, y'know?
Not... living in fear.
It was said that Rolento was trying to establish Metro City as a utopia. As a place for people to be free and live the lives they wanted to live.
If that were really the case, then why did he need hostages? Did he really need to take over of one of the largest cities in the world really the right way to go about establishing a new land? Wouldn't, like, Nowheresville, Minnesota be just as effective if it was really all that?
As far as I can tell, this whole... Metro City takeover thing seems to have been a ruse for the biggest heist the world's ever seen! Look at all the money and jewelry that went right into Rolento's pockets. Yeah, we have proof -- photos! And yet, a lot of people seem to be thinking that Rolento was actually doing some good here. That he's not some common crook, that he actually meant what he said about setting up a brand new order. Or that me and Karin are the ones to blame for all this, because we dared question his reasoning.
I know a lot of my fans -- you people out there in LJ-land -- think I'm wrong for jumping in and trying to save people -- making it alot more dangerous for tehm in the process. Well, most of you weren't there. Most of you saw it with your own eyes, saw what was actually going on. So I can't expect any of you to believe me when I say I did what I thought was best. I did the only thing I could do -- fight for what I believed in.
I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
... I'd probably take a different approach though.
