The Man, such as He is, often has to do the censoring Himself. One thing that irritated the FUCK out of me was immediately post-9/11, where some journalists were criticizing the government for refusing to tell them just where President Bush was at any given moment.

This tells me that the government (rightfully so, in my opinion) was keeping his whereabouts secret; and it seriously implies that if his location was leaked to the media, they would be saying "PRESIDENT BUSH IS IN AIR FORCE ONE FLYING OVER NEW ORLEANS, LOUSISIANA RIGHT NOW, HEADED FOR A SECRET BUNKER IN TEXAS LOL". And given Geraldo's sand-maps during the Iraq war, I have little doubt in my mind that some network or another would have done exactly that, if only to get the scoop.

The thing is, I dislike Bush as much as the next LIEberal, but he IS the President, and his safety IS paramount, especially in an Action Movie Situation like 9/11. Stupidity, hesitation, and "hear, hear, what's the meaning of all this" costs lives in those situations, and the government was smart enough to NOT go in the abandoned house by itself, NOT split up so we can find the others, and take the advice of the idiots in the front row yelling "DON'T GO IN THERE, THAT'S WHERE THE MONSTER IS". (At least in the case of keeping the President hidden).

Many times, things ARE kept secret for our own good; the question is whether or not we can trust the people who are making that judgement call.

Sorry, I kind of diverged from what you were saying. But the "BUSH WAS A HIDING COWARD DURING 9/11" thing is something that's always grated on my nerves.
