Star Trek: Voyager: Tamsin’s Interest

USS Voyager NCC 74656
It was an ordinary day on Voyager, late in its 4th year of travel through the Delta Quadrant on its journey towards the distant Federation.
Lieutenant Tamsin Eugenia Paris stepped off the turbolift onto the bridge. Captain Chakotay met her as she made her way around the centre seats. “Early for a change?” he asked.
“Sir?” she asked.
“You usually arrive 5 minutes before change of shift. It is now 14 minutes prior to change of shift.”
“Oh,” Paris said. “I guess I rushed this morning, Sir,” she said.
“I guess so,” the captain said.
Paris then went and sat near the helm station whilst she waited for the change from Gamma shift to Alpha shift.
8 hours later Tamsin and her friend Harry Kim stepped onto the turbolift. It had been a boring day, Voyager had remained at warp and there were only a few course corrections that had to be made due to the local subspace geodesics changing.
“What are you up to tonight, Harry?” Tamsin asked, after specifying her destination, the Mess Hall (she had used up all her replicator rations for the week on a birthday present for one of the cute shuttle pilots).
“A relaxing evening, listening to classical music and reading fantasy novels,” Harry replied.
Tamsin just shook her head. Outside of away missions Harry wasn’t really the active type.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
“Oh, running my air-racing program with New York as the course. Then I will join the Delany’s in the gym,” she said.
Harry shook his head. Tamsin’s air racing program was really hard, especially the New York City level. “Better you than me,” he said.
The turbolift stopped. Harry got out. “Bye,” Tamsin said.
