The other day at the library I was lucky enough to snag a copy of a book called "Ghastly beyond belief: The Science fiction and fantasy book of quotations", a paperback from 1985. The authors, two young gentlemen in their mid-20's, "spent aeons in compiling this might tome of reference", gathering snippets of wild and bizarre lines from science fiction and fantasy novels, comics, and films, taking them completely out of any context, and mocking them mercilessly, yet lovingly. Three years before MST3K!!!

The authors are described as

"an up and coming young journalist, short story writer, and aspiring novelist whose articles on science fiction (amongst other things) have appeared in Knave, SHE, and Penthouse. He also reviews books for the British Fantasy Society."

"a film critic for City Limits and author of a number of coffee-table film books. A Freelance hournalist and an aspiring fiction author, he also reviews films for the british Fantasy Society, also amongst other things."

The second Author is one of my all time favourites, Kim Newman, who created the awesome Anno-Dracula universe as well as other speculative alternate reality sci fi such as Back in the U.S.S.A. The first is some guy named Neil Gaiman, or something
