Found! K/S slow burn...the slowest
I read this fic several years ago...I want to say before or during the time Into Darkness was released. At the time of reading it, it was a WIP that was ~90k words. It’s AOS characters. Spock was in Starfleet stationed on Earth, possibly related to ship building/repairs? Kirk is not in Starfleet. Somehow he and Spock cross paths. When I say it’s a K/S slow burn, I mean it took most of those ~90k for Spock to even admit to his own feelings towards Kirk.
The scene I remember most was Kirk somehow ending up in the hands of some baddie on the ship, which was still under construction. Spock has to race to locate Kirk and fight baddie. I want to say Spock rescues him, because of course, but not without Kirk being injured severely.
I don’t know if I’ve given enough to distinguish it in anyone’s mind, but any help tracking this fic down would be deeply appreciated. It’s driving me absolutely mad trying to find it.
