The Historian: Sucks (No pun intended).

Finally, I finished it. Even though the audio book presentation was well done, I have to say this is one of the most disappointing, utterly stupid vampire books I've ever read.

And I like vampire books!

The plot goes nowhere, the writer wouldn't know dramatic tension if it jumped up and bit her on the butt.

The entire book is written as if Dracula is some obscure historical name. There is passing mention of Stoker here and there but it's like that novel is rare (rather than available even at the corner drugstore) and Bela Lugosi (never mind Lee and Langella) was never born.

And the ending --- what a betrayal. After suffering through 300 pages (or ten CDs) you'd think there would at least be a decent pay-off.

What a waste of time and a complete failure as a piece of genre fiction.

Even listening to Stephen King is better than this.
