So this past Tuesday, Marcy, David, and I went to New York City... to meet Darren. Eeeeek. xD
We left 11am and went to Arby's cuz we were all hungry... then started off towards NYC. The ride up was fairly uneventful until we actually got to Hoboken, when we found out that the parking lot we'd been aiming for was full. We kept driving in circles trying to find other ones... we ended up using the map and finding one where we could actually park. Then we took the Path train in, and everything was fine.
We basically just wandered around for a few hours... We went to Brookstone and I bought my dad's Christmas present (a cute little remote-control helicopter... I thought it was something he'd like, and apparently while I was in NYC he saw them on tv and wanted one. And now he keeps trying to buy one on the internet. lol) and went to a couple other stores just to kill time... then like two hours before the Darren thing started, we went to Planet Hollywood for dinner. It seemed like a good idea because I was kind of hungry, but as the day went on, every time I thought about meeting Darren, I felt like I had to go throw up... so I got a $15 salad and ate like three bites, and had like half of my soda, because I was feeling really nauseous.
So after we ate, we started walking towards Borders, which was at the bottom of central park... I thought we were gonna be late, so we hurried, and we ended up getting there with like forty minutes to spare. Which was good, cuz I didn't really want to be in the back. We stood there, fidgeting around, and eventually he came out... He sang first, he did... The Only One, a mini-cover and impression of Britney's Gimme More (best thing ever. hahaha.), Insatiable (cuz we requested something sexy... even though the choices were fun and serious. lol), Unlovable, On the Verge of Something Wonderful, and Casey. All acoustic. All totally amazing.
After the singing we all got in line... and by line, I mean we were a disorganized mass of people. Marcy and I probably should have been waiting for a while, but as Darren was singing people pushed forward, so we were a lot closer to the front by the time he was done, and people pushed forward more so we were right up against the barrier, and when they opened it, we sort of forced our way through earlier than we should have. So then we met him... I went first... He was reeeally nice. And Australian... We shook hands, chatted, then his publicist handed him my cd, and I had the special edition one (it's fuzzy), and he was all impressed and started talking about how much he loved the packaging, and asking where I got it, and stuff like that. And I told him, and I said about how I couldn't go to the NYC show the next day cuz I'm only 20, but I'd be in Philly, and maybe some other stuff... and then he said i was nice to meet me, and he passed my cd on to the next guy and it was Marcy's turn... but the next guy was impressed with the cd too, and Darren got talking about the packaging again and how they were gonna bring it to the US. So I'm really glad I brought my fuzzy one... it definitely made me stand out. They said it was the only one they'd seen like that. :D
I was totally calm and friendly and stuff while I was talking to him, but when the last guy handed me back my cd, I was actually shaking, and when I walked away I was thinking that I really needed to go outside, away from Darren, and freak out... and by the time we were out on the sidewalk I was really hungry. Probably because I skipped dinner, lol.
So, yeah. After nearly a decade of being a fan, I finally met Darren. And saw him for the second time this year... and the one in March was the first time ever. And I'm gonna be seeing him twice next week, Tuesday and Wednesday. Heeee. xD How cool would it be if he recognized/remembered me or something? :D :D
