I've always wanted to do one of these writer's block things... and I'm not sure the icon is exactly appropriate, but I've been wanting to use it for a while. :P
What are you afraid of?
Actually, I think the list of things I'm not afraid of is shorter than the list of things I'm afraid of. Irrational fears are one of my specialties.
I'm terribly afraid of anything with more than four legs. Anything. Flies freak me out. Those house centipedes make me have an instant heart attack. I'd kill myself before I'd let a spider crawl on me. I won't even sit with my feet on the floor at night, because I've seen things crawl across the floor. (Right now, even, I have my feet up underneath me, and I keep checking to make sure nothing's trying to get me.) And I won't get in bed at night without moving my covers around to check for bugs, and then checking under each of my pillows. But then, I'm not bothered by snakes or worms or anything. It's the legs... they really bother me.
I'm also afraid of heights. Even more than the actual heights, I'm afraid I'll pitch myself off of whatever I'm standing on when I'm too high. Kind of weird... I'm always really tempted to throw expensive electronics from great heights. Cameras, cell phones, iPods. Just to see what happens. I'm not sure if it's being high or the weird impulsive thoughts, but I'm extremely uncomfortable if I'm more than a foot off the ground.
I'm afraid of trains. Nothing has ever happened to me or anyone I know involving a train... but I've always been afraid the one near our house will derail and take us all out, or I'll get hit by one. I won't cross the tracks if I can see one, no matter how far away it is.
I'm afraid of big trucks. Like tractor-trailer trucks. I know that one's slightly less irrational than some of the others, but it's kind of extreme with me. I really, really hate having to drive anywhere near them. I'm always terrified when the person I'm riding with decides to pass one, because, what if they don't see us and switch lanes? Even if there's no reason why they'd want to... It's just scary.
I'm afraid of fire, but not like you'd think. I'm a bit of a pyro, actually. But if there's a house fire anywhere near me and I see it, I can't sleep at night... I lay awake wondering if our house is going to catch fire, and I keep thinking I hear/see fire.
Umm... I guess that's it, I can't think of any others worth talking about. :P
