I worked today. It was pretty boring. The orientation leader from yesterday told me that she'd be there today when I got there and she'd tell me what to do, and she was there, but she was extremely unhelpful. Some other manager came out to help me and two other guys from my group punch in (cuz we weren't technically on the schedule yet, so he had to override the machine or something...) and asked if I was done with my CBL's yet (computer based learning), and I'd only done the first four, so he sent me to do that. There were 27 total. You do the math... 23 of them all in one sitting. Okay, I'm lying, I went for my lunch break in the middle. I was hoping some manager-type person would come rescue me at some point, I even went looking for people, but no one was around. I'm glad they care what their new employees are doing. :P Yeah, I sat there from 4 until 8:30, then decided it was time for "lunch" before McDonald's closed. I had no idea how long of a break I was supposed to take, so I went with half an hour... had a snack wrap and a salad... then came back and finished my CBL's. 23 of them in one day. Good god. And CBL's are basically powerpoint presentations with a voiceover that you have to listen to cuz it's not all typed out... 10-20 minutes apiece, on interesting things like how to clean up spills that might be toxic, or company ethics... and I think Ben Stein did the voiceover in about half of them. Okay, no, that would be cool. But I swear the entire thing was in monotone. Fun stuff. I didn't even take a break cuz I wasn't sure how many I was supposed to take... either one or two... I went with none. lol.
At 10 my mom came and I was done with all my CBL's and all my documents from now through August (lol) so I went out to talk to her, told her that I hadn't done anything all day... she talked to some third shift manager who had just shown up, and she sent me out front with some lady. It was okay, but it was the beginning of third shift and we got a lot of returns, and that wasn't something I had to worry about so she did them all... I checked five or six people out and felt like an idiot, but that's not surprising. Customers were looking a little irritated, but they were before I got there, too, so I don't feel too bad. I'm hoping I can get someone to actually tell me what to do tomorrow...
Okay, off to bed now. It's after 5am. :P Work tomorrow 4-11 again, then Dunkin with Torrey and company. Hopefully he'll remember to get me.
Oh, two random thoughts:
1. I'm watching the Daddy Yankee feat. Fergie video. She looks like she's trying to be Shakira. Not happening, Fergie. Sorry.
2. The weird-ass stalker lady from Dunkin came through my line. I didn't recognize her... at least not until she asked me when I was going to play cards again. I said haha probably tomorrow. I was thinking, OMG RUN AWAY.
