This time of the year, the country's pop musicians are competitively presenting their final events of the year, generating excitement for their fans.
Popular ballad singers Sung Si-kyung and Lee So-ra will have a joint concert called "Sentimental City" at the Olympic Hall of the Seoul Olympic Park, southeastern Seoul, on Dec. 22 and 24. The concert will be an ideal gift for couples, as most of the program will highlight the soft and mellow side of the two performers, through a medley of love songs and Christmas songs.
Lee Seung-hwan, Kim Jang-hoon and Lee Seung-chul -- who are often dubbed the "big three of live concerts" -- will also perform for their fans for the last time of the year.
Lee Seung-hwan, whose concerts are always full of brilliant new ideas that never fail to excite his fans, will perform at the Olympic Fencing Gymnasium in southeastern Seoul on Dec. 22 and 24. The 40-year-old Lee has recently come back with a new album titled "Malang," which includes a special backstage ticket for his upcoming concerts as a bonus.
Versatile singer-songwriter Kim Jang-hoon will give his solo concert titled "Kim Jang-hoon's One Man Show" at the Olympic Hall from Dec. 21 to 24. "Even if I give the same show a thousand times, I tremble every time I'm about to go on stage. But when the curtain rises and I see the eyes of the audience, I regain my strength," Kim said in an interview with The Korea Herald.
Veteran singer Lee Seung-chul, who is currently promoting his latest album, "A Secret of Color 2," will give Christmas concerts at Jamsil Gymnasium, southeastern Seoul, on Dec. 22 and 24. Through the double bill, Lee will introduce Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround sound for the first time in the history of the country's pop music concerts.
Lee Moon-se, who sold out some 70 concerts in 16 different cities this year alone, will seek to add a few more to that list with his "Solo Recital," at the 100th Anniversary Memorial Hall of Yonsei University until Dec. 24.
On the same day, Epik High, a three-member hip-hop group whose fifth album, "Remapping the Human Soul" topped local music sales charts earlier this year, will present a concert titled "The White Parade" at Seoul Jangchung Stadium in downtown Seoul twice on Dec. 24. The trio, led by rapper Tablo, is well-known for their lyrics because they are highly critical of current events and society.
Eun Ji-won, former rapper of the now-disbanded boy band Sechs Kies, will play two concerts at the Textile Center in Samseong-dong, southern Seoul, on Dec. 28 and 29. DJ DOC, the oldest Korean hip-hop group formed in 1994, and SG Wannabe, a trio of exceptionally talented vocalists, will perform on Dec. 31 at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium and Imperial Palace Hotel, respectively.
Park Jin-young, a singer-composer and president of JYP Entertainment well known for his outstanding ability to foster talented future stars, will come back as a singer with his year-ending concert titled "Bad Party," which will be at the Olympic Hall on Dec. 31. The adrenaline-pumping punk rock quintet Crying Nut will offer four concerts at Doosan Art Center, downtown Seoul, from Dec. 28 to 31.
