[Teen Times] SG Wannabe, a Soulful Harmony

Feb 20, 2007 23:37

I know this is old news but I love SG Wannabe music but little info re. this band. So when I found this, I just have to keep this on my journal.

Less than a month after their second release, SG Wannabe, the boy vocal trio, have managed to storm to the top of music charts and reign as the princes of the exploding mobile contents market. Although they are rarely seen on TV, their songs can still be heard both online and offline. When your friend’s phone rings or your cyworld minihomepy pops up, you are probably hearing one of their songs. This week, let's meet SG Wannabe who reign supreme in the Korean music market with their touching melodies.
Question: First of all, Congratulations! Your second album is fantastic. And you’ve already claimed the number one spot in many local music charts. Did you expect that your new album would be such a big hit?

Kim Jin-ho: We were pretty satisfied with the work we had done when we finished recording the album. However, we felt a lot of pressure trying to show our fans that we had improved. I would like to thank all of our fans for continuing to listen to us and loving our songs so much!

Q: I know all the songs in the album are dear to you. But what's your favorite song?

Chae Dong-ha: I like the track "Thank You" most because this song was especially made for the SG Wannabe fans who have given us constant support and motivation to do well. The lyrics itself is our message of appreciation to our fans.

Q: SG Wannabe's nationwide concerts kick off on May 29. What can music fans expect to enjoy at your concerts?

Jin-ho: Although we felt quite nervous and awkward on stage during the promotional days of our first album, we have matured since then and now feel more confident about performing.

Q: What do you hope to achieve as a singer?

Chae: My short-term goal is to make sure our concerts go well and are successful. And for my long-term goal, I would like to attempt a career as a musical actor. I had previously done some musicals while I was in college, and I felt it would be an attractive field to work-in. I would love to try doing another musical in the future.

Kim Yong-jun: I would like to have a long-lived career as a singer.

Q: What was your dream when you were kids?

Jin-ho: Ever since I was very young, I've dreamed of becoming a singer. Even when my friends proudly talked about their dreams of being a doctor or a scientist, I never hesitated in saying that I wanted to become a singer. And I was able to finally realize my long-cherished dream while I was still in high school.

Chae: I’ve always wanted to be a singer. I remember pictures of myself wearing a big head set and singing the songs from Dong-ha.

Q: What would you like to be doing or be 10 years from now?

Chae: By that time, I would like to be a producer who develops future musicians.

Jin-ho: I will still be young even 10 years from now. But 20 years from now, I would like to become a musician who truly understands his craft and becomes established like Stevie Wonder.

Q: Do you have any words of wisdom for the Korea Times readers?

Chae: Anyone who has ever dreamed about something and tried their best to pursue it most likely will realize their dreams. So, I would like to say to readers that if you have something you would like to do, then go for it. Sometimes, you might fail but you will still have a lot of opportunities down the road.

Yong-jun: I think accumulating a variety of experiences helps you in whatever you choose to do later in life. Try as many different things as you can. Those experiences will be a great future asset.

Jin-ho: Don't give up on the things you love to do.
