Preppy hairstyles look clean cut, and they never go out of style. To get a preppy hairstyle, start with clean hair that is in good condition. Preppy hair is never damaged or dirty. These hairstyles look sophisticated and will work for people of any age.

So here is the hairstyles tips how you can go about Preppy Hairstyles.

Straighten curly hair. This can be done with a flat iron or by blow drying the hair into a straighter configuration. Wavy hair can be straightened in the same way, or it can be put into fat rollers and air dried to take out most of the waves.

Put the hair into a smooth ponytail. The ponytail can be in any position from the nape of the neck to the top of the head. As long as the ponytail is neat and there are no wispy hairs sticking out, the ponytail will look preppy.

Brush the bangs to the side and hold them there with a small amount of gel. Preppy hairstyles should not look too stiff or wet. Comb through the gel to make sure it doesn’t clump. Allow it to dry.

Try a braid instead of a ponytail. A French braid or two French braids in the back are also preppy hairstyles. Get a friend to French braid your hair for a neater look.

Get a bright ribbon and tie it around the ponytail or braid at the point that it touches the scalp. Tie the ribbon into a bow. A barrette can be used in place of a ribbon if desired. The ribbon or barrette that's used should match the outfit that you wear for a complete preppy look.

Use a headband for short hair to keep it looking neat and stylish. Short preppy hair is usually cut with straight bangs that are brushed downward. The headband goes above the bangs and sits on top of the head.

Style a man’s hair with a short cut that is parted on one side. It can be gelled to keep it looking neat, but it should be styled as straight as possible.
