Weekend update

Feb 10, 2008 23:54

The drawing for the Opening Day/Yankees Red Sox ticket opportunities went by without me being picked.

However drawing digitalemur into my lottery entry schemes proved to be critical, as she did get picked. She came over this weekend and we spent Saturday from noon on waiting in the virtual waiting room for our chance to get tickets. We had to wait until 5:30 PM or so, but now we have tickets to the game on July 26th. Well, will once they come in the mail. Bleacher seats, but I'm going to see the Sox play (and beat, of course) the Yankees in Fenway! :D

I'm still hoping I get picked for Green Monster or right field roof seats, but we'll see... if so I'll try to pick up a game in April or May. I want to go to a game this semester as well, and that'll give me a chance to bring other people into Fenway. (The extra tickets for July have already been reserved for ladybird97 and STH.)

While she was here I showed her my copy of Die unendliche Geschichte since it had come up in previous conversations. I was surprised -- every time she asked me what something meant, I could answer immediately. I've been worried that my vocabulary had atrophied due to little to no use lately, but I surprised myself with how easily things came. However there's a difference between translating words on a page and active dialogue -- I don't exactly plan to chit chat auf Deutsch mit Matthias at any point in the near future.
